In Chinese, the family name is place first follow by your given name, most Chinese names contain three characters, and the first character is the family name and following two are the give name.
Example:
Lín Mínglì
林明丽
So for introduction you will say…
Nǐ hǎo
Wǒ jiào Mínglì 我叫明丽
(My name is Mínglì)
However, some names only have two characters one for their family name and one character for their given name.
Example:
Wén Jié
文杰
When you introduce yourself you always say both…
Nǐ hǎo
Wǒ jiào Wén Jié
(My name is Wén Jié)
